Hello its Hart from first period. this conflict is about Stanley going up against the society. He was protective of his wife and almost beat a white man to death but the result of this was the society killed him but not only did they kill him he had to suffer because of what he did.
Hello it's Rachel pd. 5. My conflict is man vs. man. When Sarny's children got taken from her from another slave owner took them. She had to get them back from him. She went through a lot to get them from that man when she was freed by a union troop. This is man vs. man, because it is the external conflict of two people.
Hello this is Aaron from 7th period again and my conflict is man vs self. it is when Sarny and Lucy stopped at the one battle and wanted to help the wounded soldiers but she couldn't because they needed to get to New Orleans to save her children. my definition of conflict is a struggle between opposing forces. 5 words that describe Sarny are determined, brave, willing, caring, and cautious.

This is Aaron again and earlier on in the book not to long ago Lucy and Sarny were trapped in the middle of the battle and they couldn't move they were huddled down in a small ditch right in the middle of everything. That delayed them but now they are on their way again until a covered wagon offered a ride and a job to new Orleans.

Interesting - Discuss something about the story that you find particularly interesting. It could be a character, an incident, something you are learning, or something you are feeling.
Rachel 5th pd.(: I think an interesting incident is when Ms. Laura came. I wasn't expecting that to happen. They were getting paid just to help her to the place they were going anyway. She was a very nice lady too.
its hart from first period. one interesting thing about this book is that no matter what life threw at sarny. she just kept going. she kept living her life. yeah she had to have been heartbroken but she never got off task she was always doing what she was supposed to be doing. i thought that was interesting because all those deaths didnt keep her down. it seemed like all she wanted to do was live and be happy. i thought this was interesting.

Their is some new conflicts. They are now in New Orleans, but still need to get Sarny's children. A problem with that is, the man that they think has them might not have them, or might not anymore. Ms. Laura has a plan to easily ask him questions about everything. She is going to have a welcome home party for herself and invite him. Sarny agreed to this but was a little sad that she had to wait two more days to know.

Hey this is Rachel , from period 5. I agree with these problems. Some of the slaves really didn't know where to go when they were free. The one slave, Lucy, decided to follow Sarny though. I think that it was a problem whenever the guy was killing his old slave owner. If he would have waited Sarny and Lucy would not have had to go through all the paperwork looking for her childrens information. When they went through all the papers, Sarny realized that all those papers were peoples lives. She started to cry. When they found some paperwork about her children, it had a place and a name of the person who bought them, which gave Sarny some hope. It was a problem that they had all those papers, because they were all peoples lives and slavery needed to stop.

Hello its Hart from 1st period. the main character is still sarny but i also think that other girl would be considered a main character too. because as much as it talks about sarny the other girl is still involved too.
Hey it's Rachel again. I think the main character would just be Sarny. I don't think Lucy would just because Sarny is the reason for all of us. Lucy was just another slave that decided to go with her. Although Lucy is not a main character, she is important to the story. She helped find the paper with Sarny's kids names on it and where they were at.
Hey it is Aaron from 7th period again and the main character is Sarny i agree but yes at the same time it seems like lucy is too. you could figure it out though that Sarny is the main character because that is who the story is about and it focuses on Sarny more than Lucy. Right now Sarny and Lucy are succeeding at everything they are trying to do. they have a job now and with that job they travel to new orleans. they get paid 20$ a week to help a girl named Mrs. Laura get to new Orleans just where they want to go.

Hello I am Hart from 1st period. In our book Sarny, there are several main conflicts that go along with the story. one of these problems are the North doesn't want the south to have slavery, so to end that they start fighting. Sarny's slave owner gets killed by one of the soldiers fighting with the north. which means the slaves are free. but a problem with that is that the slaves have no clue how to live without slavery, because all their lives thats what the have been taught, to follow what the slave owner says. But without the slave owner who is gonna tell them how to live or where to go. Another problem is Sarny's children were taken away from her plantation. All she knows is what the man looks like, and the way he took to get back to his plantation. Right after Sarny's owner was killed she left the plantation to go find her children. But when she finds it she isn't very happy because her children weren't there, and no one has saw them. the slave owner is dead too. All that is left is the box of papers that has all the records of slaves that have came in to the plantation and all the records of who's went out.
